Episode 32: Don Quijote Nationwide

March 9, 2026
Throughout my life as a pro-wrestler, I have received the gift of "connections" (En) in so many different places.
Whether it’s for matches, promotions, or media appearances, no matter where I go in Japan, I often find myself saying, "Thank you for your help back then."
Recently, while I was doing a talk event at the MEGA Don Quijote Misato store in Saitama, the store manager from a Don Quijote in Gunma went out of his way to come and greet me.
Back in the 2010s, I went to Gunma many times for promotional work. The manager spoke so happily about those days.
After the event, while we were all letting our memories blossom, I took a chance and asked, "Is there any way we could do more events like this with our active wrestlers?" He gave me the wonderful response: "Let’s absolutely do it!"
Right then, an idea flashed into my mind.
"Manager! Roughly how many Don Quijote and MEGA Donki stores are there nationwide? Pro-wrestling tours all over Japan, so please, let’s do this at Donkis everywhere!"
And just like that, the door opened for a future where New Japan wrestlers can hold events at Don Quijote stores across the country.
In promotional activities like this, consistency is key.
At the same time, this only works if the action in the ring is top-notch. If people come to see us, I want them to go home having had a blast.
Thinking about it from that perspective, we have to make the battles in the ring even more fulfilling.
Aaaah! There’s so much to do!
Today is the Amagasaki show. Praying for its success, I’m going to slightly reduce my carb intake today (a very specific kind of prayer).
