Episode 28: Body Trends

March 2, 2026
[Tatsumi Fujinami, Masakatsu Funaki, and Hiroshi Tanahashi Talk Event]
The other day, I attended an event hosted by Belc. Since I was appearing alongside such great legends, I was feeling a bit nervous. In terms of career length, I’m the junior, yet somehow, I’m the only one who’s retired...
Now, what do these three people have in common? Do you know? Is it our good looks? (lol).
The answer is: we have all published training books.
Back when I was a university student, I used to train while reading Funaki-san’s physical transformation books. At the inaugural Pancrase show, every single fighter showed up with a shredded, ripped physique—it was completely different from traditional pro-wrestling.
Of course, I owned Fujinami-san’s training book as well. It focused mainly on old-school bodyweight exercises, but I remember it being incredibly helpful.
Eventually, my own training book, How to Build the "Ace" Body (a masterpiece, if I do say so myself), was born. Looking back, I realize I was heavily influenced by both of them.
Meeting them both on this day, the one thing I felt was overwhelmingly different about them was their "Haki"—their spiritual ambition or aura. I think I felt it so strongly precisely because they are both still active wrestlers.
"Haki" is important. It’s what conveys your enthusiasm, motivation, and resolve to those around you.
First things first: I need to get my Haki back.
Wait... how exactly do you get Haki to come out?
Hmm. When someone lacks Haki, you can kind of tell, thinking, "Ah, this person seems a bit lifeless." But when someone has Haki, it’s actually harder to pinpoint.
Man, I really want to be draped in Haki.
Alright! Since we're talking about Haki, I’ll start acting more "Haki-haki" (briskly and clearly) from today!
