Episode 153: Presidential Pledge (Public Promise)

September 15, 2026
"I served concurrently as both wrestler and President for two years, and starting this year, I became dedicated solely as President."—Every time I say this single line myself, I actually feel a little proud inside.
That's because I feel I've finally steeling my resolve to support the company not from inside the ring, but from the outside.
During the two years when I was both wrestler and President, to be completely honest, rather than "two-way player," I was stretched to the limit wearing "two pairs of shoes." Concentrating as a wrestler before matches, and facing numbers as President after matches. Amidst those switches, I feel that, shamefully enough, the distinction between the role of a wrestler and the role of a President has become blurred.
Having transitioned to dedicated President starting this year, what has become visible to me all over again is the importance of "not standing on the same playing field." The wrestlers are breaking a sweat today too with pre-match promotions and social media posts. If so, what I as dedicated President should do is be the lighting technician illuminating the outside of the ring. It's plain and unglamorous, but this too is proper "front office" work.
Specifically, there are 3 things I am telling myself.
The 1st is to cultivate the "entry point." The drop in audience attendance at a certain venue compared to the previous year wasn't due to a lack of charm in the wrestlers, but rather the narrowness of the "entry point where new customers can start following from today." Broadening this is the job of management, not the frontlines.
The 2nd is "systematization." Up until now, we've somehow managed to pull through using intuition and experience, but now we must translate that into numbers and words, building an organization that runs regardless of who is in charge.
The 3rd is "building momentum among employees." The words I repeat at morning assemblies (*I've actually only said it once so far)—"A company's growth is the sum total of each individual's growth"—will start to get across by continuing to use them like a wrestler's finisher move.
The wrestlers walk down the entrance ramp. Having become dedicated President, I am now in a position bearing the responsibility to deliver results at the end of that entrance ramp. Taking off that second pair of shoes wasn't to retreat into the background, but to face the numbers with my chest held high as President (So cool!).
Attendance, revenue, and company growth—in the end, the one carrying all of it on his back is me.
I will make this year "a year where I delivered results as President." That is what I can tell the wrestlers right now.
I'm expecting big things from you guys! Hey, cut that out--!!
