Episode 132: Subleasing Inokism

August 14, 2026
This year I was planning to take a business course at a certain university. The theme was "How to Drive Corporate Transformation." However, the duties of being President keep me quite busy, so I failed to apply in time, and by the time I realised it, registration was already closed. Waaaaah!
As frustrating as it is, I'm definitely going to get my revenge next year.
While researching the content that was scheduled to be covered in the course, I came across a case study of a failed corporate transformation at a certain company. Despite spending a fortune to hire numerous personnel, the one thing money couldn't buy was a relationship of trust with the front lines. Reading that made a thought suddenly cross my mind.
For many years, my mindset toward my juniors was, "Look at my back and learn on your own."
Standing in the ring, feeling the atmosphere of the arena, taking in the fans' cheers, and reflecting on what you gained from that into your next performance - for me, this was a very natural feeling.
However, reading about that company made me realise: this sensation isn't something that comes easily to just anyone.
If that's the case, then the "watch and learn" approach might have actually been quite unkind.
Having a methodology built up over time, only to force my juniors to start from zero every single time, would be a total waste.
From now on, instead of leaving gut feelings as mere feelings, I will translate them into words. Straight from the Itsuzai (Once-in-a-Century Talent): "The ability to translate frontline instincts into organisational words and systems." Kitakore! (Here it comes!)
I want to properly pass this along to my juniors. Instead of starting from zero, I want them to use my "1" as a stepping stone. From there, I strongly hope my juniors will charge up to a "2" and a "3" that surpass me.
...Or so I think, but my methods were methods that worked in that era, and they aren't universal. Surely, every era has its own way of doing things.
In the end, "Find it yourself, you bastard!"—maybe Inoki-san was right all along after all. DAAAAH!!
