Episode 131: Annual Check-up

August 13, 2026

The other day, I went for my annual comprehensive health checkup (Ningen Doc). CT scan, MRI, X-rays, blood tests... a true "full-course inspection."

The moment I arrived at the clinic, my posture straightened right up. Even if you think there's nothing wrong with you, when it comes to health, you never really know. The path to the examination room: If you fear it, there is no path. If you step forward, that single step becomes the path...

Anyway, in my case, due to years of intense weight training, my Creatine Kinase (CK) levels—which rise when muscle fibers break down—have marked abnormally high numbers almost every single time.

At first, the doctor would express a bit of concern, saying, "My, these numbers are high..." But well, it happens every year for me.

Come to think of it, this was my very first Ningen Doc since retiring from active competition. How would the results turn out this time...? Since I haven't been training as intensely, I figured it should be fine, but I was honestly more worried about things like obesity or lifestyle-related diseases.

I'm just going to wait anxiously for the results.

Yes, the fact that I've gained 15 kg since January 4th is definitely something that weighs on my mind, but being healthy and able to enjoy delicious food is what matters most!

Now then, after the checkup, you naturally end up starving. Why? Because I hadn't had anything except water since the previous evening (← Obvious!).

There was no way I could win against a craving that strong. On the way home from the hospital, my feet naturally steered me right into a ramen shop. What I ordered was... 【Mazesoba】.

Yep, I'm GUILTYYYYY AS CHAARRRGED!!!

A President eating heavy ramen immediately after a blood test. In a way, as far as timing goes, it's actually the correct move... Let's just call it a modest cheat day.

Carrying a slight tinge of guilt in my heart, I will continue to do my best today with both presidential duties and weight management. Still... man, that mazesoba was delicious.

And there it goes—blood sugar spiking sky-high—HERE IT COMES! HERE IT COMES! HERE IT COMEEEES!!!
